Yellowhead Road and Bridge is seeking a Project Manager.
We are looking for a detailed oriented person who thrives in a demanding fast paced environment and is looking for a chance to advance while learning our business in Road and Bridge Maintenance. Our Project Manager position is a management training opportunity where we take the successful applicant and provide them with the training and support to advance their career within our group of companies. This training position can be located within our group of companies across the province and advancement opportunities will be found within that group. We currently operate in Prince George, Vanderhoof, Nelson, Birchbank and Merritt.
The successful candidate will work with our Senior Management Team to inspect, identify and audit work. This also includes examining work and projects for quality and accuracy as well as ensure work is compliant with contractual and company standards. Working closely with the Quality Manager, the candidates will have an active role in our audit process as well as quality management using our Quality Management System. The successful candidates will also participate in site supervision, project estimating, cost control, perform basic surveys and layout, ensuring proper engineering practices are being adhered to particularly in respect of soils and materials construction. Through this, we hope the candidates will learn the skills needed to progress forward with our company.
This position requires working both indoors in an office setting as well as outdoors in all weather conditions. The applicants will need to have above average analytical and organizational skills, excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, as well as the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with our crew and government counterparts. Flexibility is key as emergencies and jobs can come up at a moment’s notice and managers must be able to respond.
Computer skills are an asset and proven abilities in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook are important. A detailed knowledge of the properties of soils, a basic understanding of surface water drainage, as well as any experience in road construction or maintenance would also be advantageous. Post-secondary education is not required but would be considered a benefit.
The position would include a company supplied vehicle, competitive starting wage, as well as an ownership opportunity in the company.
