Job description

Yellowhead Road & Bridge performs highway maintenance services in the Prince George & surrounding area. We are seeking a Certified Red Seal and/or Apprentice Mechanic with related industry experience. This job provides stable and rewarding work opportunity in the construction industry.
The seasonal nature of the industry offers variation in repair through the course of the year. The spectrum of work will include diagnosing, inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing winter snow removal equipment, vocational trucks, wheel loaders, graders, excavators, and trailers amongst a variety of other equipment. We are seeking a hard-working individual with a positive attitude and strong problem-solving ability. Benefits and extended health coverage also available at the conclusion of the probationary period.

Requirements:

• Minimum grade 12 education
• Commercial Transport or Heavy-Duty Red Seal certificate, or Apprenticeship Enrollment
• Minimum 2 years work experience in the industry
• CVIP endorsement (preferred)
• Minimum class 3 with air endorsement (preferred)
• Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read and follow instruction.
• Must be able to work shiftwork
• Respond to service calls in all types of weather conditions
• Fabrication and welding experience (preferred)

Ability and Skills:

• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnosis, and repair electrical, hydraulic, air, and mechanical components
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to troubleshoot reported problems and resolve in a timely manner
• Perform thorough maintenance and accurately record/document completed repairs.

Salary: $30.16 to $37.74 per hour

• 8 hour shift

• Day shift

Yellowhead Road & Bridge performs highway maintenance services in five contract areas throughout British Columbia. We are seeking a Call Center Clerk to work in our Logistics & Communication Centre. 
The spectrum of work will include taking calls from members of the public, updating road conditions and events on DriveBC, and relaying information to and from our road crews. We are seeking a reliable individual with a positive attitude. 

Requirements:

• Strong interpersonal skills
• Reliable transportation to 4350 Handlen Road
• Ability to follow established procedures and practices, and read and follow instructions.
• Ability to work night shifts and weekends as relief for full-time staff.

Ability and Skills:

• Familiarity with MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment

Job Type: Part-time (Mon-Fri, 3:00-7:00pm)

Salary: $19.01 per hour, add’l $0.50 per hour if working night shift

Schedule:

• 4 hour scheduled shift
• Monday to Friday
• This position is offered preference first for all other available hours in the call centre to cover for sick days / holidays of the other staff.

to join our team in our yards in Birchbank, Grand Forks, Midway and Beaverdell! 

Required skills/experience/qualifications:

• Class 3 License at minimum (Class 1 preferred)
• Proven experience operating heavy machinery in road maintenance projects
• Ability to operate a variety of equipment, including Wheel Loaders, Packers, Graders, and Excavators
• Proficiency in performing routine maintenance on machinery
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations
