Yellowhead Road and Bridge is seeking a Project Manager.

We are looking for a detailed oriented person who thrives in a demanding fast paced environment and is looking for a chance to advance while learning our business in Road and Bridge Maintenance. Our Project Manager position is a management training opportunity where we take the successful applicant and provide them with the training and support to advance their career within our group of companies. This training position can be located within our group of companies across the province and advancement opportunities will be found within that group. We currently operate in Prince George, Vanderhoof, Nelson, Birchbank and Merritt.

The successful candidate will work with our Senior Management Team to inspect, identify and audit work. This also includes examining work and projects for quality and accuracy as well as ensure work is compliant with contractual and company standards. Working closely with the Quality Manager, the candidates will have an active role in our audit process as well as quality management using our Quality Management System. The successful candidates will also participate in site supervision, project estimating, cost control, perform basic surveys and layout, ensuring proper engineering practices are being adhered to particularly in respect of soils and materials construction. Through this, we hope the candidates will learn the skills needed to progress forward with our company.
This position requires working both indoors in an office setting as well as outdoors in all weather conditions. The applicants will need to have above average analytical and organizational skills, excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, as well as the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with our crew and government counterparts. Flexibility is key as emergencies and jobs can come up at a moment’s notice and managers must be able to respond.

Computer skills are an asset and proven abilities in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook are important. A detailed knowledge of the properties of soils, a basic understanding of surface water drainage, as well as any experience in road construction or maintenance would also be advantageous. Post-secondary education is not required but would be considered a benefit.
The position would include a company supplied vehicle, competitive starting wage, as well as an ownership opportunity in the company.

Yellowhead Road and Bridge (Vanderhoof) is seeking a Road Superintendent with an expected start date of Spring 2025, based out of the Vanderhoof office.

The successful candidate would ideally demonstrate knowledge and understanding of summer and winter maintenance including, but not limited to:
• safe and effective operation of maintenance equipment
• an understanding of the local service area
• an understanding of typical maintenance practices/services
• resource management & allocation
• effective documentation amongst other items.
• understanding and knowledge of YRB’s Quality Management System
• knowledge of the BC Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure’s Highway Maintenance Specifications

The position will require effective communication with employees, colleagues, the general public and Ministry representatives. Documentation is a critical component to the job that requires increased organizational skills. The candidate is expected to communicate fluently and effectively through various means including face-to-face, email, by telephone and others.

Basic computer skills demonstrating use of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel is also valuable. Prior supervisory experience would be beneficial but not required.

The candidate will be responsible to provide and/or arrange work-related instruction for employees within the assigned crew, assessment of individual employee progress and development, carry out and/or participate in the initial planning, programming and estimating of resources and related costs required to accomplish and complete scheduled work and/or projects within annual budget in accordance with related standards and management direction; to carry out such functions as reviewing management reports and either implementing or preparing for corrective action and ensuring that corresponding fiscal control is maintained; to carry out field and/or job site inspections and ensure work progress, materials and/or other requirements are maintained.

Yellowhead Road and Bridge (Vanderhoof) is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic.

We are looking for Certified Red Seal and/or Apprentice Mechanic with related industry experience. This job provides stable and rewarding work opportunity in the construction industry. The seasonal nature of the industry offers variation in repair through the course of the year. The spectrum of work will include diagnosing, inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing winter snow removal equipment, vocational trucks, wheel loaders, graders, excavators, and trailers amongst a variety of other equipment. We are seeking a hard-working individual with a positive attitude and strong problem-solving ability. Benefits and extended health coverage also available at the conclusion of the probationary period.

Requirements:
• Grade 12 education
• Commercial Transport or Heavy-Duty Red Seal Certificate OR Apprenticeship Enrollment
• CVIP Endorsement (preferred)
• Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brakes (preferred)
• Ability to follow established procedures and practices / read and follow instructions
• Ability to work shift work
• Respond to service calls in all manner of weather conditions
• Fabrication and welding experience (preferred)

Ability and Skills:
• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, air, and mechanical components
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to troubleshoot reported problems and resolve in a timely manner
• Ability to perform thorough maintenance and accurately record & document completed repairs

Wage: $33.06 – 39.48 per hour
